Rising Costs and the Global Cacao Shortage
Cacao's magic strikes ~again. Recently, a global cacao shortage has forced prices to rise significantly. In response to these challenges — including increasing costs and the need for sustainability — you might have noticed our price increase last month. The cacao market has seen incredible fluctuations, with prices spiking by a staggering 238%!
This shift created complications for us. I felt disheartened initially, but I soon recognized the power, strength, and magic of cacao. It seemed as though cacao was self-regulating, pushing back against overconsumption and misappropriation in the market. It felt as if cacao was saying, "I'm tired. I'm taking a break. You all go to your room and think about what you've done." (Lol).
The Impact of the Cacao Crisis
Many cacao companies have folded under these pressures. Numerous white label distributors have disappeared as well. These distributors buy someone else's work and effort, then label it as their own. It’s a trend I’ll be discussing in detail soon. It’s crucial to know your source!
In the midst of this turmoil, I had a dream involving cacao. This dream provided me with the clarity I needed on the path I should take. I followed its guidance and, as a result, we’re back in business!
A Surplus of Cacao
Continuing on this journey from my dream, I discovered that our partner farm community had a surplus of cacao. The cacao is from the same varietal and region — just as magical. However, due to their remoteness and lack of transportation, they had no one to sell it to.

Returning to Our Roots
In the spirit of by the people, for the people — as a resistance against the gross over-commercialization of cacao — and in honor of the guidance I received from my dream, we're thrilled to announce that we're back to our regular prices. Cacao Junajpu was always intended to be accessible to everyone. We believe as many people as possible should enjoy it.

A Bright Future: The Rainy Season
Now, as we embrace the rainy season, we are off to a fantastic start! It’s been extremely wet, which cacao thrives on. Our partner farm is bouncing back, full of beautiful flowers on the trees. It looks like a great harvest is on the horizon!
